This is ordinary loot that anyone can get from killing and looting a mob. In addition to Junkboxes, various mobs throughout the world drop Lockboxes. As you level Lockpicking, you will be able to open higher level boxes. Most Junkboxes contain some silver or copper, with a chance of grey items, gems, healing potions, poison mats, and more. They are great, but sometimes fancy gloves aren't enough. Sometimes you'll find yourself in the annoying position of having out-leveled the level of the Junkboxes and Lockboxes you are able to pick pocket and loot. Every character level that you gain allows you to train five levels of Lockpicking until you reach 300 levels of Lockpicking. Locked items are labeled Locked until they are unlocked, so a quick mouseover to pop up the tooltip will let you know what needs your attention. You can make a macro for each stealth opener that you ever use - replace with, Cheap Shot, or whatever you are going to open with. Right, so we have the mechanics of picking pockets down. Just make sure you don't right-click the mob in melee range and auto-attack it by accident. And it never hurts just to stealth up and try your luck anyway. You can pickpocket most humanoids and some other mobs as well a good rule-of-thumb is that if it looks like it has pockets, it probably does. It takes about 10 minutes for a pickpocketed mob to refill its pockets. Once you cannot be seen, move to within melee range (5 yards) of your target and use Pick Pocket. If you find yourself in combat, use Vanish. Most of the time, that will mean toggling on Stealth. There are also a few rogue quests where picking a pocket may or may not be a requirement (spoiler, it is, always).Īs already mentioned, you have to be stealthed to use Pick Pocket. The primary use for pickpocketing is to acquire Junkboxes which are used to skill up. Unlike pickpocketing, Lockpicking is an ability that needs to be leveled up, but this does go hand in hand with pickpocketing. You can only pickpockets while you are stealthed, meaning that you have to either use Stealth or Vanish first. Rogues learn Pick Pocket at level 4 and at level 16 - talk to your trainer to pick them up (so to speak). Mastery of picking pockets and opening locks can become both a game-within-the-game and a lucrative side profession for rogues. Pick Pocket is an ability unlike any other in-game and, along with, is unique to rogues.
